Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) President Honour Sirawoo has called on media practitioners to shun forces that are set forth to foster disunity within the media fraternity and Nigeria at large.
Sirawoo made the clarion call at the end of the quarters finals matches of the on-going SWAN Kano chapter inter media cup holding at the Kano Pillars Stadium.
Sirawoo, who commended SWAN Kano state chapter for portraying the bond among media practitioner could enjoy through sports, further advocates for a firm commitment and unity in the media fraternity.
Represented by the Vice President, SWAN North West Lurwanu Idris Malikawa, Sirawoo said: “ Unity is our strength, this competition has served as an indicator of the strength in our muscle, which we possess as a union.
“We must not allow our focus to be deviated from the motive and objectives set forth by the founding fathers of our great association.
“ As media practitioners, we are the bearers of the torch of unity and progress, along with the task to make sure those for running national affairs are made to remain steadfast and responsible , dedicated and accountable to the task and role in their duty of nation building,” he noted inter alia.
