Smart City FC Retain NNL Status

Smart city football club of Lagos, on Thursday retained their position in the NNL after a hard faught victory over Hensard fc in their final game of the relegation play off in kano state.

City who needed an outright victory to remain in the NNL, conceded the first goal as early in the 4th minute of the game, but city who were mentally strong and knew what they wanted, didn’t lie down and get rolled over, as they found the equaliser in the 17th minute, through, goal machine, Chinonso Uzoma, who rattled the back of the net to restore parity.

Both teams faught the remainder of the first half, but all efforts was to no avail, as the first half ended 1-1.

The second half resumed even more keenly contested, as both teams, came out with winning intentions, but it was city who had the better mental strength as they found the back of the net in the 80th minute, through double engine midfielder, Gafar Ojo, to give city all maximum points. All efforts by Hensard to get an equaliser, proved abortive, as city defence to stood rock solid, like rock of Gibraltar for the remainder of the game to seal an all important victory and cemented their place in the NNL.

Speaking after the game via telephone, an elated chairman of smart city, Adeboye Anthony Adeyinka, said, it’s only God that did this, and that, he will forever be grateful to God for this wonderful victory.

“I thank you Lord for this wonderful victory, you are the most highest I will continue to praise you forever’ he said.

“I congratulate the players, coaches, staffs and all our supporters for this great achievement, we will continue to do our best and we pray for a great and successful campaign next season” he concluded.
