Smart City fc of Lagos on Saturday at the Umuahia township stadium played out a 1-1 draw with Abia Comets in an NNL clash.
The much anticipated game lived up to it’s Billings as both teams played out some good football to the delight of the fans present at the stadium.
City who came into the game with their tail raised, were full of confidence after vehemently dispatching Coal City fc 4-1, last weekend in Lagos.
City started the game at a good pace and mentally too, stroking the ball confidently and keeping possession well.
Both sides gave it at each other, but either side failed to bulge the net, as the first half ended in stalemate.
The Alausa tutored side came out even more spirited after some pep talks from their graciously gifted coach. City took the game to their opponents and got their goal through inform striker, Monday Emmanuel, who finished well to give the Eko boys the lead in the game.
Both sides continued to go at each other in the tensed and trilling encounter, but, city held on to their lead late into the game, before the Umuahia based team got their equaliser deep into the second half to restore parity. Both sides tried to get the winner, but all efforts were to no avail, as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Meanwhile, Smart City Coach, Kabiru Alausa, has showered accolades on his players for their resilience and hard faught draw.
“It was a good result for us, my boys knew what was at stake and they gave it all in this game, I heavily appreciate them for this good result and we hope to get more positive results in our subsequent games” he said.
“Abia Comets came to Lagos and got a draw and we came here and took what they took from us, I give God all the glory and we will continue fighting for positive results till the end of the season” he concluded.
