Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed the first words to his Manchester United players after their 5-1 win at Cardiff City.
The result marked the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement that United had scored five goals in a Premier League game.
Speaking with Norwegian reporters, Solskjaer said: “I’m proud. I’m happy on behalf of the supporters. It’s a long way back to Manchester. Now they can enjoy themselves.
“It’s very, very satisfying. It’s great fun. They are very good football players and they have done the job. I am the one who gets the praise – but they are the ones who deserve it.”
Asked what his first words were to the players after the win, Solskjaer added: “I said, ‘That’s how a Manchester United team should play’. It’s great.”
