The International Tennis Federation said on Monday that a 58-year-old South Korean wheelchair tennis player has been banned for 12 months after it was found that he had violated doping rules.

A banned substance was found in a sample taken from Kim Kyu-seong in November 2021 and Kim immediately pleaded guilty, according to the International Tennis Federation.

Kim initially accepted a voluntary temporary suspension starting from November 4, but it was found that he had violated the terms of this punishment by training with the national team and participating in a match in the same month.

The Korea Tennis Association and the World Anti-Doping Agency did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
