After a thorough and competitive screening process involving over 100 teams, the Spires 5-aside Tournament 2025 has officially selected its final 40 teams. With 8 teams representing each of the five divisions across Lagos, the road to this year’s tournament has been highly competitive, and we are proud to announce the following teams who have earned their spot in the tournament.
This year’s edition of the tournament promises to be a showcase of young football talent, as the selected teams meet the eligibility criteria set by the Spires 5-aside organizing committee. Teams were evaluated based on their commitment, skills, and dedication to the sport, ensuring only the most promising and determined teams were chosen.

Eligibility Requirements:
To ensure a high level of competition and player development, the Spires 5-aside Tournament enforces strict eligibility criteria:
Age: Participants must be between the ages of 16 and 21.
Registration: Teams are required to submit passport photos of their 10-player squad by the registration deadline. Additionally, teams must submit an Excel sheet containing their players’ details, including social media handles.
Social Media Engagement: All players and teams must follow Spires 5-aside on official social media platforms, including Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and TikTok (@spires5aside).
Affiliation: Teams must also be officially affiliated with their respective divisional Football Associations.
The 40 teams will now proceed to participate in the tournament, which provides an invaluable opportunity for young players to develop their skills, gain mentorship, and make their first steps toward a professional football career.
Tournament Schedule:
Ikeja Division: April 19 – 26, 2025
Ikorodu Division: May 10 – 17, 2025
Epe Division: May 31 – June 7, 2025
Badagry Division: June 21 – 28, 2025
Lagos Island Division: July 12 – 19, 2025
The divisional rounds will serve as a qualifying platform, after which the top 16 teams will be selected for the state championship. The state tournament draw is scheduled for August, and the championship will take place from September 6 – 27, 2025.
This year’s Spires 5-aside Tournament offers an exciting opportunity for young footballers to not only showcase their skills but also gain valuable exposure and mentorship. As the tournament unfolds, we expect fierce competition and the emergence of future football stars.
