Sports Minister Wants Dennerby To Stay With Falcons

Sports minister, Sunday Akinlabi Dare has disclosed that his decision to wade into the escalating controversy surrounding the future of Swedish tactician, Thomas Dennerby as coach of Nigeria’s female national team, is because he wants the issue to be resolved very quickly.

Amidst reports that Dennerby has quit his job due to accumulated salaries and wages being owed him by Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Dare confirmed that he has personally take up the matter, in order to ensure that the coach stays put.

The minister further revealed that he has already received a briefing on the unfolding drama between the coach and the NFF and, though other sources insinuated that the issue goes beyond money, Dare assured that he will get to the root of the matter in the quickest time possible.

He posited in a message on social media that his desire is to see the matter resolved amicable and early enough, in order to allow the coach return to his duty post, as the Falocns have match against Cote d’Ivoire next week, in the first leg of their final qualifier for the 2020 Olym[pic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

Dare posted: “I have personally stepped into the matter of Thomas Dennerby, the Coach of Super Falcons. I received a brief and will proceed to seek a quick resolution to ensure he continues to Coach Nigeria’s female team.”
