Sunday Rotimi Joins Rivers United

Former Rivers United safe hands Sunday Rotimi has returned to the club as goalkeeper trainer to add sparkling force to the goalkeeping department ahead of the new football season after Emeka Obi left the club recently.

Rotimi played for former Dolphins FC now Rivers United between 2004 and 2018 as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper, helping them win two league titles in 2004; 2011 and one FA Cup in 2007 was spotted with the team at the Enyimba International Stadium where Rivers United played the first leg of CAF Confederation Cup playoff against Al Masry of Egypt which ended 2-1 in favour of the ‘Pride of Rivers’.

The 41-year-old will now be passing on his wealth of experience to the club’s goalkeepers to directly helped the like of Theophilus Afelokhia, Victor Sochima and Darlington Ovunda hone their skills, maximize their talents and abilities.

Rotimi, who also enjoyed spells with Plateau United, Enyimba, El-Kanemi Warriors, Ironi Rishon Lezion, Hapoel Ashkelon of Israel and Rivers United, earned 5 caps for Nigeria before making a move to join Mekelle 70 Enderta of Ethiopia in 2018.

Rotimi made over 250 appearances for the ‘Pride of Rivers’ during his 14-year stint at the club and he has not been shy to offer his opinions to the club in recent times.
