Nasarawa United of Lafia youngster, Sunusi Ibrahim has declared his burning ambition to keep on firing series of goals in Nigeria’s national colours, and hopes that will be the case when he lines out for the home-based Eagles against Togo in their upcoming Championship of African Nations (CHAN 2020) qualifier.

Making his thoughts know ahead of this weekend’s first leg in Lome, Sunusi said he was happy with two assists and a goal for the under-23 national team, Olympic Eagles in their second leg against Sudan, and stressed that he wants to keep the momentum going against Togo.

The former Golden Eaglets’ invitee, who recently had trials in Denmark and Russia, is now looking higher than the age-grade level, as he wants to make hay with the Eagles’ B-squad when they face The Hawks in the final qualifying round for CHAN 2020 to be hosted by Cameroon.

Togo secured a date with Nigeria for the CHAN 2020 qualifying fixture following a 1-0 win against The Squirrels of Benin in their first-round qualifying fixture in Lome on Sunday, as the Togolese booked their passage 1-0 on aggregate after first holding their opponents to a goalless draw.

On the other hand, the Eagles, who finished second at CHAN 2018, after losing 4-0 to the hosts, Morocco in the final, were drawn bye in the first round, and will now travel to Lome for the first leg this weekend, while the reverse fixture holds in Nigeria between October 18th and 20th.

As the Eagles head out for the first leg, Sunusi is brewing with confidence for victory, adding that he aims to continue living his passion of scoring more goals for Nigeria, at any level he is called upon to line out in green-and-0white, as he wants to make his country proud.

Sunusi stated: “I am happy that God helped me score against Sudan, and that the team won the match. I thank God for making it possible, and I pray that I will be able to score more goals for my country.”
