Super Eagles defender Troost-Ekong out for two weeks

Italian Seria A side Salernitana will have to do without the services of Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong at least for the nexe two weeks. Ekong picked up injury in club’s 1-0 defeat to Hellas Verona midweek, but the club has now confirmed that the Nigeria internation will be sidelined for at least two weeks due to the injury.

“US Salernitana 1919 announces that William Troost-Ekong underwent MRIs and CT scans at the Centro Polidiagnostico check-Up which showed a tibial plateau fracture from trauma.

The athlete has already started the physiotherapy protocol and will carry out new diagnostic checks in two weeks”, the club confirmed.

Ekong has played three games for Salernitana. He signed a one-season loan deal with a mandatory purchase option if certain conditions are met.

The 29-year-old has made three league appearances for the club.

Salernitana is looking to escape the drop from Serie A after a poor run of form.
