Super Eagles forward, Peter Olayinka, is set to surpass Nigerian legend Austin Jay Jay Okocha’s European club appearances record.
The Slavia Prague star will make his 53rd appearance in UEFA European club competitions when the Czech Republic champions host Feyenoord in the second leg of their Europa Conference League on Thursday.
Both teams had played a 3-3 draw in the first leg last week, with Olayinka scoring his side’s first goal during the encounter.
The tie was Olayinka’s 52nd appearance in European club competitions, Making him level with Okocha, a former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder.
However, Olayinka will surpass Okocha and go level with former Nigeria international, Celestine Babayaro should he feature against Feyenoord in Slavia on Thursday, according to Soccernet.
Olayinka’s new record will take him to the fifth-joint position among Nigeria’s highest appearance makers in European club competitions behind Nwankwo Kanu (81 games), Taye Taiwo (78 games), John Mikel Obi (70 games), and Obafemi Martins (63 games).
