LaLiga has announced that their Nigeria forward, Umar Sadiq will undergo surgery on Thursday.
The White and Blue revealed on Monday that the Nigerian has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament.
The striker copped the injury in Real Sociedad’s 2-1 defeat against Getafe on Sunday.
“After suffering a rupture of his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, Sadiq Umar will undergo surgery on 15th September in Vitoria, with Dr Mikel Sánchez taking control of the procedure,” reads a statement on the club’s official website.
Sadiq moved to Real Sociedad from Almeria this summer.
The 25-year-old is expected to miss the remainder of the campaign as a result of the setback.
