Super Eagles’ Rookies Make Patrick Pascal Proud

Super Eagles team coordinator, Patrick Pascal has showered encomiums on the squad’s young players and debutantes for holding their own in Tuesday night’s -2 draw away to Ukraine during a high-profile international friendly played at Dnipro-Arena.

Although many Nigerian fans were disappointed that the Eagles gave up a 2-0 lead to eventually settle for the draw, Pascal insists the players deserve praise, considering that many of their older stars were not present and four of their had debut invitations to the team.

The Atlanta ’96 Olympic Games’ gold medalist, who played for Wikki Tourist of Bauchi and Shooting Stars of Ibadan during his heyday, went on to affirm that the outing on Tuesday gave another ray of hope about a promising future ahead of the Eagles.

He reckons that seeing several young players in the team rise to the occasion and even one of the first time lads, Joe Aribo, scoring the opening goal of the encounter stated so much about the bright future lying ahead of the Eagles and Nigerian football as a whole.

Pascal stated: “I am happy with the performance of the young boys, especially those who got their debuts. It shows good promise for the future of the Super Eagles and Nigeria as a whole.”
