Team in high spirit ahead of semi-final game

The player of River Angels have been speaking tough ahead of their semifinal match against Amis Du Monde of Togo at the ongoing WAFU B qualifier billed for  Stade Robert Champroux this evening.

The reigning Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Champions kept a clean sheet in the group stage of the tournament after scoring a total of 7 goals, topping their group ahead of Ghana’s Hasaacas Ladies FC.

Winner of in today’s game will automatically qualify them for the maiden edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League slated to hold in Egypt later this year.

Captain of Rivers Angels, Catherine Kenneth says the team has come a long way to lose focus right now.” We have come a long way in the tournament to lose focus. We have to keep our head high to make sure we achieve our aim,” she said.

According to the defender, “the level of concentration in the team is high and we must give in our best to pick one of the tickets to Egypt,” She added.

Asked if there is any pressure mount on the team, Kenneth confirmed that there is nothing like, adding that they are getting every support needed to make Rivers Proud.

“The spirit in camp is high and there’s no pressure from anyone. “Though we know millions of Nigerians are banking on us to come through and they’ll be following today’s game and we will not disappoint them.

“We have worked  so hard, nothing is stopping us from making it to Egypt tomorrow,” she said.

Also speaking ahead of the game is Rivers Angels midfielder, Deborah Abiodun who says the team has gotten all the motivation they need from the Rivers State Government.

“Our Sponsors have been motivating us through their words and otherwise and equally told us how important it is to win this game,” said Abiodun.

“I’m sure we will do our best to put smiles on the faces of the numerous Nigerians looking up to us”, she summed.

Meanwhile today’s game will kickoff at 7pm Nigerian time.
