Team Nigeria Athletes Return Safely from Paris Paralympics

Team Nigeria’s athletes who competed in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games have returned to the country. The squad, consisting of 24 athletes and excluding officials, arrived in three batches over Monday and Tuesday.

The first batch which included the ‘golden’ Para- Powerlifters landed at 11 pm Nigeria time with Air Maroc on Monday while the second batch that was made up mainly of Para-Table Tennis players arrived 8 am through Qatar Airways while the last batch which contained the Para-Athletics team, arrived 12 noon today. Based on the above fact, all team Nigeria Paralympic Athletes to Paris have returned safely into the country.

The President of the Paralympic Committee Nigeria (PCN), Sunday Odebode, expressed gratitude for the safe return of the athletes and praised Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, for his support. Prof. Mariam Adefunke Suleiman, President of the National Association of Nigeria Women in Sports (NAWIS), also offered her thanks for the safe journey.

The returnees were welcomed at Murtala Mohammed International Airport by enthusiastic Lagosians, organized by FMSD Lagos Liaison Officer, Mrs. Nkana Mbora. Nigeria secured a total of seven medals at the Paralympics, including two gold, two silver, and three bronze.
