Tinubu encourages NFL star Ojomo to mentor local athletic talent

On Friday, President Bola Tinubu welcomed Nigerian-born NFL champion Morotoluwa Ojomo, commending his Super Bowl achievement and the pride he ignited in the nation by displaying the Nigerian flag.

Tinubu praised Ojomo’s determination and highlighted his administration’s commitment to partnering with diaspora talents to accelerate human capital development, particularly in the field of sports.

“With your focus and drive, you have the potential to mentor many young Nigerians and help nurture their talents,” Tinubu said during a meeting at the State House in Abuja.

Ojomo, a Nigerian-born defensive tackle, recently earned his first Super Bowl title with the Philadelphia Eagles during Super Bowl LIX. The Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 on February 9, 2025, in New Orleans.

Ojomo played a pivotal role in the Eagles’ defense, contributing two tackles, one of which resulted in a loss, helping to neutralize the Chiefs’ offense.
