President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday held closed-door discussions with service chiefs and heads of security agencies at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The top security officials were sighted arriving at the Villa forecourt around 4:30 pm.
The meeting comes barely three hours after Tinubu nominated retired Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, as the new Minister of Defence. His predecessor, Abubakar Badaru, resigned on Monday night, shortly after Musa was spotted at the Villa.
The security delegation was led by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, and included the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General W. Shaibu; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Sunday Aneke; and Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral I. Abbas. Also in attendance were the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Lt. General Akomaye Undiandeye; Director-General of the Department of State Services, Oluwatosin Ajayi; and the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

Last Wednesday, Tinubu declared a nationwide security emergency following a surge in abductions. Measures announced include the recruitment of 20,000 additional police officers, deployment of forest guards, and enhanced protection for schools, churches, and mosques in vulnerable areas.
Separately, Punch Online observed Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, arriving at the President’s office complex in grey native attire carrying a file. It remains unclear whether Governor Otti participated in the security meeting or was on a separate official visit. The governor had recently visited the convicted Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, at the Sokoto prison.
