TOKYO OLYMPICS: WILL SOME ATHLETES BE DENIED BEING OLYMPIANS

Date:

Being an Olympian is a feat many dream to be but reaching the gate of the promised land and yet asked to turn back due to not conformity with the stated rules on ground will be a refuted dream.

The Athletic Federation of Nigeria (AFN) eight months ago, repudiated the claim that Nigeria athletes may miss out of the Tokyo Olympic games due to the fact that Nigeria was included among the countries in the highest category (A) of nations that has the highest doping risk.

Here again, the claim that they might miss the olympic might possibly become true. Recently, an update from the Athletic Federation of Nigeria on Facebook gave an insight on the recent happenings in Tokyo which was said to be sourced from Mr Phemmy Adetula, the NOC Media Person.

Out of competition mandatory tests which ought to have been taken 3 times within 10 months  before the Olympic games are being rushed so as the athletes can compete in their respective events. Ten of the Nigerian athletes are said to not have fulfilled the mandatory OCT  tests and they are in the process of taking them.

What ought to have been done yet again has met Nigeria at the eleventh hour.

Will they be eventually allowed to compete or will it be the case that it will be too late to mend?
