Tomori, Tammy Ready For Lampard’s Drills

The Nigerian-born duo of Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham are back at Stamford Bridge, following successful loans deals elsewhere last season, and they are now ready to prove themselves under the watchful eye of Chelsea’s new coach, Frank Lampard.

Tomori was a huge success in the heart of defence with Derby County, while Tammy made his mark with a haul of goals for Aston Villa, but in the English Championship, but they now have to prove to Lampard that they are equally good enough to play in the English Premier League.

The task of finally getting their chances to star for The Blues in the top-flight division will now be paramount for Tomori and Tammy, as Lampard will assess them both during pre-season, with a view to retaining them in the first team squad for the upcoming season.

Tomori caught the eye at Derby County last season under the tutelage of Lampard while Abraham was farmed out on loan for the third successive season, this time Aston Villa, where he netted 26 goals in 40 matches.

Chelsea may need to promote some of the outstanding young players they loaned out over the last few seasons, as The Blues have been hit with a transfer ban for two windows, which gives Tomori and Tammy hope of spots in the main team this season.

Lampard spoke about Tammy and Tomori as well as another youngster, Mason Mount, with a verdict that they were all in great form last season and he plans to keep them in mind during pre-season, as he says he did appreciate their efforts while on loan outside Chelsea in the past term.

”They were pivotal in the team and they come back now with a very clean slate as does every player, young, old, been on loan, at the club.

“Whatever they are to prove in pre-season that they have a chance to be in the squad going forward so they are the same.

”Tammy Abraham is the same, who I played against in the final, players like that who have been on loan, come back and know that what they show in pre-season will give them opportunity,” Lampard concluded.
