Tonobok Okowa Feels ’18’ At 61

At 61, Chief Tonobok Okowa, the Executive Chairman, Delta State Sports Commission is looking younger and stronger with the undying hunger to keep going for more accomplishment.

Little wonder he sees himself as a bubbling teenager!

But, in this age and times when life expectancy hovers between 35 and 55 years, no thanks to the self-inflicted hardship arising from the poor management of our resources dating back over five decades, surviving the pains and lack is by a miracle.

Chief Okowa who is also at the helm of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) is one of such privileged Nigerians God has been merciful to. He added one year to his age Thursday, May 5.

And this divine favour was not lost on some aides and friends who gave him a surprised package with a come chop get together in Alabama to mark the milestones.

Renowned sports icon, Chief Solomon Ogba, Sir Chris Anazia, the commission’s director general, management and staff, family as well as friends were on hand to him with a spirit filled thanksgiving service and prayers for more productive years in his journey of life.
