Chelsea legend Pat Nevin believes his former side should sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen – suggesting Mykhailo Mudryk could be sold to finance the deal.
Mauricio Pochettino’s are currently sat 10th in the Premier League, having won just five of their 15 games so far this season. And with new signing Christopher Nkunku yet to play a game for the Blues after suffering a serious knee injury in pre-season, Chelsea have been struggling for goals.
Nicolas Jackson has scored six times in 14 games, with three of those coming against nine-man Tottenham, while Armando Broja has just the once goal since returning from a knee injury himself. As a result, Nevin believes Chelsea need to bring in a “top-quality striker” and feels Osimhen, who fired Napoli to the Serie A title last season with 26 league goals, would be the perfect signing.
“Chelsea have bought some of the best strikers in history over the last decade or two, and it often hasn’t worked,” Nevin told BestGamblingSites. “Strikers are always top-dollar, and Chelsea have already spent a fortune on players who weren’t always worth the fee.

“They’ll have to spend even more to get a top-quality striker in. I thought Victor Osimhen was the man a few years ago, and I still think he is. I’d imagine he’s the one Chelsea will go for.”
The 24-year-old is expected to command a transfer fee of more than £100million and Nevin believes Chelsea “will have to sell someone if they want to get a striker as good as Osimhen in the door”, naming Mudryk as a player they may look to cash in on.
The 22-year-old joined Chelsea earlier this year in a deal which could reach £87million, but he is yet to reach his potential having scored only two goals and provided just four assists in 31 appearances across all competitions.
