Transfer: Chippa United chief confirms talks with foreign clubs over Nwabali

Date:

Chippa United Chief Executive Officer, Siviwe Mpengesi has revealed that the club’s first choice goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, could move elsewhere this summer.

Nwabali has continuously been linked with a move away from the South African club after his impressive displays for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Saudi club, El-Ettifaq and Sky Bet Championship outfit, Queens Park Rangers, were linked with the shot stopper during the competition.

Belgian Pro League side, Union St Gilloise and Kaizer Chiefs are also reportedly interested in the former Enyimba goalie.

Mpengesi confirmed talks with foreign clubs and claimed they won’t stop Nwabali from leaving if they receive a suitable offer.

“We are talking to a few clubs abroad. We also believe that he needs something better, especially after the performance that he showed at the AFCON,” Mpengesi told iDiski Times.

“You know, being number two, they were runner-ups, he was number two, second best goalkeeper of AFCON, so if the opportunity comes especially abroad, of course even if it comes locally and the offer is for him, it’s not even for us. If the offer for him is better then we will not hold on to him.”

Nwabali has kept nine clean sheets for Chippa United this season.
