Former Chelsea defender, Jason Cundy has urged his former club under the leadership of new co-owner, Todd Boehly, to match Newcastle United’s offer for Real Sociedad forward, Alexander Isak.
Barring any late twists, Newcastle look set to complete the £63million signing after their bid was accepted by Real Sociedad on Wednesday.
Chelsea, on the other hand, are on the hunt for a new forward and have recently been linked with Barcelona’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
But Cundy wants Boehly to hijack Newcastle’s move for Isak and bring the 22-year-old, who he described as an absolute superstar, to Stamford Bridge this summer.
“What a good player [Isak] is,” Cundy told talkSPORT.
He added, “I have to say now, I would not be unhappy if Chelsea signed him at all.
“He’s a lot of money, he’s had a lot of moves considering his age and he hasn’t quite done it, but I think he’s an absolute superstar in the making.
“I think it’s a big, bold move. It’s top-end. He’s worth it, in my opinion. Bags of pace, he’s physical – about 6ft 4in, quick, he’s had a tough time with injuries, but this is a proper player, this kid.”
