Transfer: Man United midfielder set to join rivals as Kluivert’s move to West London fails

Manchester United midfielder James Garner is edging closer to a permanent move to join Everton.

The midfielder will be allowed to leave the Red Devils this summer, and a deal looks set to be struck before the transfer window closes on Thursday.

Popular football journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted: “Everton are winning the race to sign James Garner, now feeling close to completing the agreement with Man United on a permanent deal.

“Been told Everton are pushing to get it done — three other clubs have bid but EFC now favourites.”

In a similar development, Fulham’s bid to sign Justin Kluivert from Roma has fallen through.

The 23-year-old son of Netherlands legend Patrick Kluivert, was refused a work permit.

Despite being on loan at Nice last season, his lack of games for parent club Roma meant he did not meet the FA criteria, and an appeal was not allowed.
