Manchester United have identified Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong as the player to partner Casemiro in the Red Devils’ midfield.
Manchester United ‘still firmly believe’ De Jong will end up leaving Barcelona for Old Trafford before the summer transfer window closes next month.
According to 90min, The Premier League giants remain in touch with De Jong’s representatives as they look to pair the Dutch star with Casemiro in the middle of the park.
Recall that Man United signed Casemiro from Real Madrid last Friday.
De Jong has drawn the interest of Manchester United this summer.
But the 25-year-old wants to remain at Barca, where he is highly valued by his manager Xavi Hernandez.
Barcelona, however, are keen to sell De Jong so as to increase their finances and have told the player to take a pay cut should he wish to remain at Camp Nou.
