Transfer: Messi makes special request to Saudi Arabian club to favour Barcelona

Lionel Messi has asked Al-Hilal to delay his move until 2024, Goal reports.

It is believed Messi’s entourage made the special request during a meeting with the Saudi Arabian club on Monday.

As a result, Al-Hilal informed Messi that if they make an offer next year, it would differ from the £435m-a-year deal currently on the table.

The 35-year-old’s father and agent, Jorge, met with Barcelona and admitted his son is keen on a return to the club.

Messi is now a free agent after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired.

The player is understood to be keen on an emotional reunion with Barca, now coached by his former team-mate, Xavi Hernandez.
