Transfer: Oliseh urges Iwobi to stay at Everton

Date:

Former Super Eagles head coach, Sunday Oliseh, has urged Alex Iwobi to pen a new contract with Premier League club, Everton.

Everton is keen to tie Iwobi down to a new contract after the Nigeria international upturn in form.

The midfielder initially struggled for playing time at Goodison Park before Frank Lampard’s arrival.

Iwobi has two years remaining on his contract with the Toffees.

Talks are ongoing between Iwobi and Everton over a new long-term contract and Oliseh has advised the former not to hesitate on extending his stay at the club.

“He has performed consistently well at Everton this season and you can see that he has been revitalised after taking up a new central midfield role since Frank Lampard joined the club last January,” Oliseh told The Punch.

“Prior to Lampard’s appointment, he had struggled to find form playing on the wing, and Evertonians had practically written him off as a wasted potential.”
