West Ham United’s new signing, Emerson Palmieri has given a reason he left Chelsea to join David Moyes’ side.
West Ham United on Tuesday evening announced the signing of Palmieri from Chelsea.
The Italy international signed a four-year contract with a one-year option for an undisclosed fee.
The 28-year-old becomes West Ham’s seventh new signing this summer.
Reacting, Palmieri said he left Chelsea to join West Ham because of the club’s history, adding that the Hammers is a big team.
“I am very happy to be here and to arrive here,” Palmieri was quoted by West Ham’s official website as saying.
“It is a big challenge for me, it is a big team, so I am very happy to be here and I’m ready.
“Personally, since the first day I arrived here in England, I always saw the big clubs and I always watched the big games and I knew the history of West Ham. The history is so, so big for this team and so when I knew about the interest for sure I said ‘Yes, let’s go, I want to go there’ and I’m here now!
“I can’t wait to get started in a West Ham shirt.”
