Everton Ladies have secured the signing of Nigerian Super Falcons star, Toni Payne.
The versatile winger, who spent six years with Spanish club Sevilla in the Iberdrola league, joins Everton on a free transfer.
Brian Sorensen’s first summer signing at Everton, Payne expressed her excitement about joining the club in an interview with Evertontv.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining Everton,” Payne said. “It has always been a dream of mine to play in the UK and compete in a league as strong as the WSL. Everton has a rich footballing history and I’m excited about the opportunity to contribute to that.”
“I felt this was the right moment for me to seek a new challenge and push myself further,” she added. “I’m looking forward to this new chapter and am really pleased with my decision.”
Payne, who has earned 21 caps for the Nigerian national team, is currently part of Nigeria’s squad for the 2024 Olympic Games.
