Transfer: We didn’t want Osimhen to leave on loan — Napoli chief, Manna

Victor-Osimhen

Napoli Sporting Director Giovanni Manna has admitted that the club was initially reluctant to let Victor Osimhen leave on loan.

Osimhen was on the verge of joining Premier League giants Chelsea on transfer deadline day, but the move ultimately fell through.

A few days later, the 25-year-old finalized a season-long loan deal with Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray.

Manna revealed that Napoli felt compelled to allow Osimhen to join Galatasaray once they received the offer.

“At the beginning, we were not open to the loan, something that had also been discussed with other teams but then Galatasaray came forward when the market was closed in Italy and we found a solution that was right for everyone. Obviously, we would have liked to sell Osimhen,” Manna told Radio CRC via GOAL.

The forward made his debut for Galatasaray against Caykur Rizespor last Saturday.

He is set to make his second appearance against José Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe this Saturday.
