U-17 AFCON: Ugbade reveals how Golden Eaglets can beat South Africa

Date:

Golden Eaglets head coach, Nduka Ugbade admitted his side must be more effective and prolific when they take on South Africa, Saturday (today).

The two-time champions will take on the Amajimbos at the Stade Mohammed Hamlaoui, Constantine with a place in the quarter-finals up for grabs.

Ugbade’s side were let down by their profligacy in front of goal in the 1-0 defeat to Morocco on Wednesday.

The former defender stated that his team must convert their chances to progress further in the competition.

“We want to be more effective, more prolific

In front of goal, it is a bit confusing because when we were in Nigeria preparing, we were scoring so many goals but when we came here we are not doing that,” Ugbade was quoted by CAFonline.

“Sometimes with these young ones, it is about psychology and we have addressed that.”

The defeat to Morocco temporarily halted the West African match to the last eight.

The players were dejected following the defeat to Morocco.

Ugbade, however, said they have put the defeat behind them and are rearing to go again.

“We have put the defeat against Morocco behind our backs and we are fully focused on getting a good result against South Africa.

”We didn’t deserve to lose against Morocco because we dominated the game but couldn’t convert our chances,” he said.
