U-20 World Cup: Flying Eagles star dedicates goal to Nigeria’s president, Tinubu

Flying Eagles winger Ibrahim Muhammad says his perfect strike against Argentina is for Nigeria’s new president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Muhammad opened scoring for the Flying Eagles in the 2-0 win against hosts Argentina on Wednesday night.

The youngster stabbed the ball home on 61 minutes after he was teed up by a superb pass from substitute, Emmanuel Umeh.

It was his first goal at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

“I dedicate my goal to our new president, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, and I really appreciate my teammates for their efforts to win,” Muhammad said in a post-match interview.

The player also reflected on the victory against the host nation, who were overwhelming favourites to win the Round of 16 contest.

“No, that was not on my mind. We were comfortable, my teammate and I, and that’s football,” he said.
