With two weeks to the start of the 2023 U17 African Cup of Nations in Algeria, South Africa coach Crowie Duncan has said it is a great opportunity for them to play against Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets and others in the group.
The Algeria 2023 AFCON is slated to start on the 30th of April and South Africa is placed in the same group as Nigeria, Morocco, and Zambia.
Duncan admits that the group is very tough but remained optimistic that they can make out of the group.
‘’Yes, it is definitely the ‘Group of Death’ and that is what soccer is all about, players would like to play against the top teams and here they have been presented with a great opportunity to play against top countries like Nigeria and as far as soccer is concerned on the continent.
‘’And if we make it out of this group and we qualify for the semi-finals, then we deserve to play in the FIFA World Cup because we will have played and beaten the best teams on the continent”, he told CAF media.
