The NFF are expected to soon decide on whether to go with a proposal for the Flying Eagles to train in Spain or fly the team out earlier to Egypt ahead of next year’s U20 AFCON.

Officials informed SCORENigeria that the football federation have received a proposal for the country’s U20s to train in Spain before they fly out to the AFCON in Egypt in February.

The initial plan was for the Flying Eagles to fly out to Egypt much earlier before the kick-off of the U20 AFCON so as to get used to the prevailing cold weather conditions.

“The Spain proposal is interesting, but we will also have to consider other logistical issues like entry visas, the weather there as against what we have in Egypt as well as the overall costs,” a top official disclosed.

The Super Eagles trained at Ismaily in Egypt prior to the 2019 AFCON, where they finished third.

The Flying Eagles have been training in Abuja since last month.

Coach Ladan Bosso has already overhauled the squad the WAFU B qualifiers in Niger earlier this year with the emergence of new additions like Dominion Ohaka, Abdulrahman Adam, Ayuba Francis, Benjamin Fredrick, Jude Sunday and Samson Drambi.

They are due to break camp on December 22 for the Christmas holidays before they resume training on January 6, 2023.

The 2023 U20 AFCON will be played between February 18 and March 12 with the top four teams marching on to the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup in Indonesia in May.
