U20 AFCON: Senegal Pip Benin, Qualify For Semi-Final, World Cup

The Young Teranga Lions of Senegal continue their dominant performance in the ongoing U20 African Cup of Nations in Egypt with their fourth consecutive victory.

After winning all their three group games to reach the quarter-final, the Senegalese on Thursday defeated the Benin Republic 1-0 to qualify for the semi-final of the tournament.

Beninoise started the game on the front foot and they were able to peg back the Senegalese throughout the first half.

Senegal eventually got their breakthrough early in the second half through their captain Samba Diallo after the backline of Benin failed to clear their line following a free kick.

Apart from reaching the semi-final, Senegal has also emerged as the first African country to qualify for the FIFA U20 World Cup in Indonesia.
