U20 AFCON: Senegal President Splashes Dollars On Teranga Cubs For Beating Nigeria, Winning Trophy

Following their successful exploits in the just concluded U20 African Cup of Nations in Egypt, the Teranga Cubs of Senegal and their technical crew are smiling to their banks as the country’s President Macky Sall showered cash on the team.

The Senegalese side defeated Nigeria’s Flying Eagles in their opening game and emerged as the winner of the competition last Saturday after defeating Gambia 2-0 in the final.

They touched down at the Yoff Military Airport on Monday and they were received by Sports Minister Yankhoba Diattara, Vice Presidents of the federation Djibril Wade and Abdoulaye Sow.

In his speech, the President congratulated the players and their technical crew and further announced a cash reward of 10 million FCFA ( US$16, 324.01) to each member of the team.

Senegal will hope to continue their winning streak when the FIFA U20 World Cup commence in Indonesia in May.
