UCL: Ben Chiwell reacts to his red card in Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat to Real

Date:

Chelsea left-back, Ben Chilwell reacted to his red card during their Champions League quarter-final clash with Real Madrid on Wednesday.

The England international apologised to his teammates after he was sent off during the game at Santiago Bernabeu.

While Chelsea was battling to level Karim Benzema’s first-half goal, Chilwell plunged his team into further difficulty when he was red-carded shortly before the hour mark.

The former Leicester City star hauled down Rodrygo and denied the Real forward a clear goalscoring opportunity.

He took to social media on Thursday to reflect on the matter, tweeting, “Slept on it, and just want to apologise to my teammates and the fans.

“I made the decision in a split second last night and it was a mistake. I always give everything to the team and I will continue to do so. Thank you for the support.”
