UCL: How we exploited Liverpool’s defence, says Real Madrid captain Benzema

Real Madrid captain Karim Benzema has revealed how they exploited Liverpool’s defence for his winner Wednesday night.

The 1-0 win means the Reds have been dumped out of the Champions League after losing 6-2 on aggregate over two legs. With the scores goalless on the night, Benzema popped up in the 78th minute to condemn Liverpool to defeat.

And the Frenchman, who was all alone when he stabbed home the only goal of the match after Vinicius Junior scuffed a strike in the penalty area, revealed that he had informed his Real Madrid teammates to focus on exploiting the space between Liverpool’s centre-backs.

The 35-year-old revealed: “I told Camavinga that the two Liverpool centre-backs open up a lot. As it happened in the goal. We are very happy with him. He is very young but too good.”
