Real Madrid boss, Carlo Ancelotti, has credited Marco Asensio for his impact in his side’s UEFA Champions League (UCL) victory over RB Leipzig on Wednesday.
Ancelotti introduced Asensio, who was linked with a summer exit, in the second half against RB Leipzig at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Two goals from Asensio and Federico Valverde gave Real Madrid a 2-0 win over Leipzig in Spain.
Speaking about Asensio, Ancelotti said he was happy for the player because he had minutes and was fulfilled.
“Happy, he has had minutes and has fulfilled. I think he needed this goal. At first, he was hesitant to leave or stay, but he stayed and we were all happy,” Ancelotti said after the match (via AS).
“I congratulated Asensio, he was decisive in winning. His anger made his attitude improve in subsequent training sessions.”
