Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, has urged Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe to join a club that can win the Champions League trophy in the near future.
Ferdinand wants Mbappe to convince himself that it is his turn to win the Ballon D’Or by joining a club that can win the Champions League, adding that the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo can no longer monopolize the prestigious individual award.
Mbappe’s current contract with PSG will expire at the end of the season.
The France World Cup winner is widely expected to leave PSG for Real Madrid this summer.
In an interview with Canal Football Club, Ferdinand gave his thoughts as to what Mbappe, 23, should do with his future.
“If I were him, I would go where I think I can win the Champions League. Right now, it doesn’t seem possible at PSG,” Ferdinand said.
“Because for me, they had their best chances in the last three years. And they failed at a crucial moment. At this level, choices are not dictated by money.
“He must choose where he can be the best Kylian Mbappé. If he thinks he can be at PSG, okay.”
He added, “But the real question for him is where can he get the best out of himself? To win and grow to become the best player.
“Messi and Ronaldo will no longer monopolize the Ballon d’Or. Who will take over? He has to convince himself that it is his turn.”
