UCL: Real Madrid coach Ancelotti says draw with Man City not enough

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti felt they deserved more after their 1-1 draw with Manchester City.

The first-leg of their Champions League semifinal finished all square as Vini Jr’s opener was canceled out by Kevin De Bruyne’s long-range drive for City.

Ancelotti said, “We are left with good sensations. We competed, we fought. Maybe we even merited a win here.

“Even when you merit a win, there are times when you can’t quite convert it. But we played well, I’m pleased. I think that we focused on controlling the space between lines and trying to prevent De Bruyne and Gundögan from exploiting that. Kroos and Modrić did that very well.

“After they scored we played good football, made good chances and performed well. That gives us good feelings for the second leg next week.

“We have to play like this again next week.

“Our strategy was good, we weren’t worried when they had possession. Then the second half was completely different. We had the ball and created opportunities. We are very satisfied. ”
