The president of the Uganda Boxing Federation Moses Muhangi has expressed his excitement on meeting with the President of the Boxing Promoters Association Of Nigeria Omonlei Yakubu Imadu in Kampala on Tuesday. The both boxing experts met on the sidelines of the ongoing Africa Boxing Union ABU convention in Uganda.
Muhangi who is the initiator of the Uganda Boxing Champions League which is now in its 3rd season, said he also follows what Imadu is doing with the Yucateco Boxing League in Nigeria and he’s delighted to finally meet the pioneer, the UBF boss told reporters in Kampala.
” it’s good to have finally met Mr. Imadu, his passion for amateur boxing development should be encouraged especially what he and his team are doing with the Yucateco Boxing League in Nigeria”
” my federation also followed the Pan-African boxing championship he initiated in Togo, Benin and other west African countries recently, sincerely his model is the most apt way to go if the continent is to take its rightful place in the sports globally”
Moses said he and his team have held several talks with the BPAN boss on a possible collaborative initiative to expose more pugilists across Africa.
” i am pleased to say that the ABU convention has truly made our job more easier based on all we have been able to achieved, let me assure you that the story is about to change for boxing in Africa owing to our talks with the president of BPAN, we are looking at expanding our respective leagues and several other developmental initiatives, and in the coming weeks we shall unveil our plan”
The African Boxing Union (ABU) convention which started in Kampala on Sunday August 18th will end on Friday 20th.
