Uganda coach picks Super Eagles biggest opponent in AFCON 2025 Group C

Super Eagles

Uganda head coach, Paul Put, has recognized the strength of Nigeria’s Super Eagles ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The Cranes are placed in Group C alongside Nigeria, Tunisia, and Tanzania.

The only previous encounter between the two teams in the competition came in the 1978 edition, hosted by Ghana, where Uganda triumphed 2-1 over the Super Eagles.

Put acknowledged that for his team to succeed in the group, they will need strong self-belief.

“There are no easy games in Africa. We are going to face Nigeria, the last edition’s finalists, and Tunisia, a team that consistently reaches the latter stages of this tournament,” the Belgian said after the draw ceremony in Rabat, Morocco

“Tanzania adds the derby element, which is always intense. However, we must believe in ourselves.”

Tanzania will face the Super Eagles in their last group game in Fez on Tuesday, December 30.
