Ujiri Presents NBA Trophy To His Parents

Toronto Raptors of America president, Masai Ujiri has enacted another talking point in his fast-growing image, as the Nigerian ex-international has present last season’s National Basketball Association (NBA) trophy to his parents.

Ujiri is still being celebrated as one of the defining citizens of Toronto, Canada, after his wisdom, charisma, transfer dealings, leadership savvy and administrative acumen helped The Raptors take the NBA title outside America for the first time in history, but the ex-player has now shown that he will not forget where he came from.

So it was that The Raptors president of basketball operations took the NBA’s Larry O’Brien Trophy back home to formally present it to his parents in Nigeria, as he desired his homeland to also feel a touch of his new-found status in Canada and God’s Own Country, where all followers of the sport of giants will never forget his contributions to The Raptors’ success.

Presenting the trophy to his parents in Nigeria marks another symbolic step forward in Ujiri’s influences in The Raptors’ NBA championship winning feat in the 2018-19 season, but off the deck, in the locker room, on the court and behind the scenes.

From acquiring Kawhi Leonard, Danny Green, Marc Gasol in the span of seven months, while finding gems like Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby and the undrafted Fred VanVleet in recent years, Ujiri’s tinkering has ranked him among the best executives in the NBA.

He wisely opted to cap all celebrations of The Raptors’ historic conquest with a return home to Nigeria, where he could share the euphoria of winning the trophy with his parents, and Ujiri was visibly emotional, breaking into tears, while thanking them for ensuring he had a bountiful and rewarding upbringing.

Ujiri’s never forgotten his roots and he’s the foremost player in bringing and discovering top-tier talent from Africa to the NBA, while his Giants of Africa team creates opportunities, using basketball as a vehicle for underprivileged youth.

His mother’s words of appreciation underscored how proud Ujiri’s parents are about their son’s astounding success, with the attendant high approval rating within Canada and across the NBA landscape as a whole.

“You climb higher and higher and higher, Masai,” Ujiri’s mother said in a clam voice and loving flair after sharing a warm embrace with the hero of the moment.
