Unai Emery makes Arsenal Transfer Promise

Unai Emery has promised Arsenal will spend in the summer after insisting not all his clubs have lavished money like Paris-Saint Germain.

The Spaniard oversaw the French club splurge £365m on signing two players – Neymar and Kylian Mbappe – in the summer of 2017.

Fast forward to January 2019 and the Gunners head coach said between “zero and two” loan deals will be completed before the winter window closes on Thursday.

Negotiations for Denis Suarez from Barcelona and Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan are proving difficult to finalise with the the European giants wanting permanent deals.

But before tonight’s visit of Cardiff , Emery insisted January was not “a good moment” to buy – and he is comfortable going from profligacy to parsimony in the transfer market.

Sadio Mane says he never considered swapping Liverpool for Real Madrid, despite speculation over his future in the summer.

The Senegalese signed a new five-year contract with the Reds in November.

“Speculation is part of football,” he told World Soccer magazine. “You just learn to live with it and not to take it too seriously.
