Magic Stars, a well-known Nationwide League One (NLO) club based in Lagos, will arrive in Nigeria tonight after finishing in the quarter-finals of the Viareggio Youth Tournament in Italy.
The club was one of four teams from Nigeria to participate in the 75th edition of this international youth football tournament, which featured a total of 24 teams.
Isaac Iseoluwa Oluwatobi, the Director of Sports, shared details about their flight schedule as the 32-member travelling party prepared to depart.
“Our journey back to Lagos begins at Malpensa Airport. Our flight is scheduled for 12:20 PM on an Air France flight, arriving in Paris at 2 PM.
“We will then connect to another Air France flight from Paris to Nigeria at 3 PM, aiming to land in Nigeria by 9:20 PM.”
Reflecting on his team’s experience at the Viareggio Cup, he said, “It was an exciting and adventurous journey for the team. It wasn’t easy to go through three group games and the Round of 16 match unbeaten in our debut.
“This performance demonstrates the quality we possess as a team and showcases the talent available for the European market.
“There are many lessons we learned that we will take home to improve upon as we prepare for the 76th edition of the Viareggio Cup. Our goal is to come back as a more cohesive team.”
