W/cup play-off: Ghana’s left back Abdul Rahman out of Eagles clash

Ghana’s left back Baba Abdul Rahman has been ruled out of Black Stars World cup play-off clash against Nigeria on Friday.

Preston North End boss Paul Ince gave the hint after revealing that the left back who suffered injury during their match against Reading will be out for at least two weeks and indication that he will not likely to be 50-50 before crucial first leg encounter billed for the Baba Yara Stadium Kumasi.

There are however indications that compatriot Isaac Annan who plays for Kristiansund BK in the Norwegian premier league could be drafted in.

Although Black Stars technical team headed by Otto Addo has continued to keep release of final squad for the much talked about showdown to his chest in what has been dubbed a joker, the list is likely to drop on Wednesday just two days to the match. Hush-Hush fillers in town say the list has been decided upon and will be dished out any moment from now latest Wednesday.

Both Black Stars and Super Eagles are desperate to make their countrymen happy by picking a ticket to the World cup in Qatar after what was dubbed poor run at the recently concluded Nations cup in Cameroon where they crashed out in the group stage and round of 16 respectively.

Already debate over where they pendulum will swing has taken the stage among soccer pundits with some insinuating that the Black Stars may have an edge because of past home result.

Nigerians known for their passion for football have already told Interim technical Adviser Augustine Eguavoen who led the team to round of 16 ouster in Cameroon, to ensure that ticket to the World cup in November does not elude the country.

Ghana eye a fourth world cup appearance after their debut in Germany in 2006 while Nigeria look forward to 7th appearance following the debut in 1994 in the USA.
