Date:

Head Coach Aliyu Zubair has named a talented squad for Nigeria’s Flying Eagles, featuring midfielder Nasiru Salihu and forward Charles Agada, to represent the country at the WAFU B U-20 Championship starting in Lome, Togo, on Thursday.

This tournament serves as a qualifier for the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

The contingent, comprising 20 players and 12 officials, arrived in Lome on Tuesday afternoon after a rigorous week of training at the Remo Stars Training Complex in Ikenne, Ogun State.

In support of the team, Hon. Kunle Soname, President of Nigeria Premier Football League club Remo Stars, has pledged ₦5 million if the Flying Eagles successfully defend their title in Togo.

He also donated ₦1 million to the squad before they departed from the Remo Stars facility on Monday.

The Flying Eagles, champions of the previous edition held in Niamey, Niger, will face Burkina Faso in their opening match on Friday.

They are also set to compete against Cote d’Ivoire in a three-team Group B, with the top two teams advancing to the semi-finals.

Group A includes hosts Togo, Ghana, Niger Republic, and Benin Republic.
