President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has restated his administration’s resolve to equip the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies with modern tools, enhanced training and sustained logistical support to tackle insecurity across the country.

Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, the President gave the assurance yesterday at the Passing Out Parade of Regular Course 7/2019 cadets of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano.

Addressing senior government officials, security chiefs, traditional rulers and thousands of families gathered for the event, Tinubu described the ceremony as a significant milestone in efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture.

A statement by the Special Adviser to the SGF on Media and Publicity, Yomi Odunuga, quoted the President as commending the academy’s transformation into a fully accredited degree-awarding institution, following improvements in infrastructure, academic standards and training capacity.

He applauded the contributions of patriotic Nigerians involved in shaping a new corps of officers “equipped with the knowledge, discipline and values needed to secure the nation.”

Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a modern, people-centred police force rooted in integrity, accountability, professionalism and respect for human rights.

“Our vision remains clear: to raise a Police Force that is well educated, well trained and fully equipped to manage internal security with dignity and fairness,” he said.

The President commended the academy’s management for aligning with ongoing police reforms, stressing the need for intelligence-driven and community-focused policing capable of earning public trust.

He urged the newly commissioned cadets to uphold the highest standards of integrity and professional conduct.

“You are not just law enforcers; you are guardians of our collective security and well-being. The nation expects you to serve with honour, fairness and selfless dedication,” he added.

Tinubu reminded the cadets to treat citizens with dignity, uphold the rule of law and maintain exemplary character on and off duty. He also pledged that their welfare and career advancement would remain a priority of the Federal Government.

He noted that the administration is addressing the underlying causes of insecurity by promoting economic growth, social cohesion and inclusive development, alongside direct investments in security institutions.

Tinubu also saluted the families of the graduating officers for their sacrifice and support, which he said helped shape disciplined and patriotic personnel.

As the ceremony drew to a close, the President urged Nigerians to remain united in the collective pursuit of national security and prosperity.

“Let us look to the future with hope and determination. Together, we can build a Nigeria that is secure, just and prosperous for all,” he said.
