West Ham United want Thilo Kehrer and face paying around £17million to price the defender away from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
The Hammers are selling Issa Diop to Fulham and certainly need to bring in at least one more centre back.
Craig Dawson, Angelo Ogbonna and new signing Nayef Aguerd are all out injured at the moment and Kurt Zouma looked to be carrying a knock against Manchester City.
Adding another option at the back is paramount for West Ham and Moyes now appears to be looking to the French market for reinforcements.
A name emerging over the last 24 hours is that of Paris Saint-Germain defender Kehrer with the London Evening Standard equally noting that West Ham were showing an interest.
Sky Sports then suggested that West Ham had started talks to sign the German as a replacement for Diop.
The Daily Mail now add that West Ham do indeed want Kehrer and PSG want a fee of around £17million for his services.
That’s pretty much a half-price deal for West Ham given that PSG forked out around £33million to sign Kehrer from Schalke back in 2018.
Kehrer was a top talent in Germany but has been forced to make do with a squad role at PSG.
Kehrer, 25, played just 63 minutes in the Champions League last season and clearly isn’t considered to be an important player at PSG.
West Ham could now offer Kehrer a key role in their back line but they must now decide whether £17million is the right price.
Germany boss Hansi Flick has hailed Kehrer as a ‘complete player’ thanks to his ability to play all across the back four and on both feet.
That versatility will be hugely appealing to West Ham and Kehrer is a name to keep a close eye on as the Hammers eye another signing.
